Project Green AV Review of InfoComm STEP Rating System Draft 1

Congratulations to InfoComm and all in the industry who worked together to create this first draft of the STEP Rating System.  This is exemplary work and a major stride for Green AV.

The STEP Rating System hits on two of the most important topics in Green AV for the future.  First, STEP wisely focuses on the full cycle of equipment, awarding points for re-use, sourcing reclaimed equipment and putting in place environmentally responsible plans for equipment’s end of life (including recycling).

Data centre energy efficiency management training announced by Dimension 85

Philip Vandenberg September 1st, 2010

London - Dimension 85 Ltd has released a schedule of training courses covering data centre energy efficiency management for IT professionals involved in the management of energy resources. These vendor-independent training courses provide an insight into the emerging concept of energy efficiency management within the data centre and discuss the requirements and considerations for implementing a business-led IT oriented energy efficiency management initiative.

The demand for information on dealing with and managing data centre energy consumption is rising and with energy costs set to double over the next few years it remains a concern for both commercial companies and Governments alike.

These training classes fulfil a requirement to enable organisations to manage IT energy costs and empower their own specialists with skills and knowledge of this emerging and important management discipline.

Philip Vandenberg of Dimension 85 said “The IT industry is being tasked to understand energy issues, reduce their costs and meet corporate governance commitments but there are few resources available for them to learn the skills necessary to achieve these objectives. This is the first of a range of specifically developed courses aimed at empowering organisations to address the diverse issues surrounding energy efficiency, and our approach enables attendees to obtain real vendor-independent guidance on data centre infrastructure and energy efficiency. ”

There are a limited number of places available and courses being delivered across the UK from September through to December.

Dimension 85 Ltd is specialises in IT and data centre energy efficiency issues and is an approved Endorser of the EU Code of Conduct on Data Centres Energy Efficiency.
