Project Green AV Review of InfoComm STEP Rating System Draft 1

Congratulations to InfoComm and all in the industry who worked together to create this first draft of the STEP Rating System.  This is exemplary work and a major stride for Green AV.

The STEP Rating System hits on two of the most important topics in Green AV for the future.  First, STEP wisely focuses on the full cycle of equipment, awarding points for re-use, sourcing reclaimed equipment and putting in place environmentally responsible plans for equipment’s end of life (including recycling).

AV pros launch "Change for the Gulf" fund raising effort at InfoComm

Linda Seid Frembes June 5th, 2010

Boston, Ma - Rich Frembes and Linda Seid Frembes, a husband and wife team who works in the AV industry, has announced the creation of a fund raising effort to benefit oil spill disaster relief efforts of the Gulf Restoration Network (GRN) called "Change for the Gulf" that will launch at the InfoComm show on June 9, 2010. Founded in 1995, GRN is the only non-profit exclusively focused on the health of the Gulf of Mexico.

Participation in the fund raising effort is simple: InfoComm attendees are asked to donate their spare change into collection jars located on the show floor.

"What began as a simple idea and an open letter to the industry has resulted in an outpouring of support and donations," said Seid Frembes, who posted the open letter on her web site (URL: http://www.frembes.com/ChangefortheGulf.html). "The AV industry is a smart and caring group of people. I am proud to be a part of a group so willing to help others."

To date, four AV manufacturers are hosting collection jars and nearly $1,000 pledged for matching funds. InfoComm attendees can find change collection points at the following exhibitor booths:

AVI-SPL - booth N2731
Fulcrum Acoustic/Rational Acoustics - booth C7922
Middle Atlantic Products - booth C6002
Projector Lamp Services - booth C4849

Companies and individuals wishing to make direct donations to GRN can do so via their web site. Please use the code "AVforGulf" in the Designation Code field in order for the donation to qualify for matching funds.

Exhibitor participation in "Change for the Gulf" is always welcome. InfoComm exhibitors who wish to host a collection jar in their booth or pledge matching funds should contact Linda Seid Frembes at linda@frembes.com.
